“May you be covered in the dust of your Rabbi”

Ek het onlangs gehoor dat, in die Joodse geloof is dit ‘n baie groot lewensgebeurtenis as jy grootword om ‘n Rabbi  te word.  Sodra jy as kind toegewyd alles geleer het wat jy moet leer, word jy gekies om aan ‘n Rabbi toegesê te word, mits hulle kan sien dat jy werklik toegewyd is en kan redeneer soos ‘n ware Rabbi.  Dit is dus ‘n voorreg veral vir jou ouers as jy gekies word.  Dit is wanneer hierdie seënwens op jou lewe toegebid word.  Want, by jou rabbi is jou enigste doelstelling om so naby aan hom te leef sodat jy eendag net soos hy kan wees.  Hy leer sy teologie vir jou sodat jy in jou lewenswandel soos hy kan dink en doen en sy teologie uitleef as jou teologie.   Jy leef en loop dus so naby aan hom, ‘dat die stof van sy skoene op jou klere agterbly.’

Experiencing GOD in the Pain

In these days we are hearing of amazing faith and faithfulness in times of much suffering for Christians and persecution in various parts of the world. Stories from China, Iran, Iraq and others parts of the world are inspirational.

In these days we are hearing of amazing faith and faithfulness in times of much suffering for Christians and persecution in various parts of the world. Stories from China, Iran, Iraq and others parts of the world are inspirational.

Today I want to share with you a poem that I have received in the past few days. It is written by a Christian lady, Zhang Xiuhong, in China, who has been victimised for her faith and been sentenced to five years in prison. It perfectly sums up much of what Paul has said about suffering.
